Amoco Corporation was founded in 1889, originally as Standard Oil Company (Indiana), around a refinery located in Whiting, Indiana, United States. It later absorbed the American Oil Company, founded in Baltimore in 1910 and incorporated in 1922 by Louis Blaustein and his son Jacob. Amoco merged with British Petroleum in December 1998, forming BP Amoco. After the merger, Amoco stations were gradually rebranded under the BP name while continuing to sell Amoco-branded fuel.
Update as of December 2017: Amoco gas stations began returning to select U.S. cities, such as Chicago, marking the return of a historic retail brand. Amoco offers the same customer loyalty programs as BP, including BP Driver Rewards.

Collecting Amoco Toy Trucks
Brand & distribution background
Amoco's long history in the fuel business and its nationwide service-station network led to a wide range of toy trucks, banks and promotional vehicles over the decades. Many were sold through stations, offered as seasonal specials, or produced as corporate gifts tied to tankers, race programs or local promotions.
Manufacturers & styles
Amoco toy trucks have been produced by several well-known names, including diecast truck and bank makers already represented across the categories above. Across those runs you'll see tankers, tow trucks, pickup trucks, vans, fire trucks, train pieces and airplane banks, often sharing castings with other brands but carrying distinct Amoco graphics.
Rarity & value patterns
As with most gas station toys, values for Amoco trucks depend heavily on age, maker, condition and packaging. Earlier pressed-steel pieces and limited promotional issues can be harder to locate, while more recent bank trucks are easier to find but still desirable when complete, clean and boxed.
